As of January 29, 2008 negotiations on the Teachers and Educators’ Union Collective Agreement remain in exactly the same position as they were at the end of last year.
There are no indications, at this stage, that the government is willing to change its position on pay, mandatory attendance on ‘School Development Days’ during the Christmas and mid-year holidays, the retention of freight allowance for remote teachers, or emergency relief teaching pay.
Over the next few days, the AEU-NT will continue to advocate vigorously its members’ stand against erosions in pay and conditions, and our belief that to attract the best teachers to the Territory, pay and conditions must be competitive with other states and territories.
We will continue to report on any progress through regular updates via fax and on the AEU-NT website www.aeunt.org.au
