AEU-NT Teachers and Educators
Union Collective Agreement (UCA)
Update # 5
17th September 2007
AEU-NT Response to Government’s Offer
By now, all teachers and educators should have access to the Government’s response to the AEU-NT Log of Claims. An email from DEET’s Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Banks, providing a link to the offer should have been sent to all staff on Friday, 14 September.
For those of you who haven’t been advised of the Government’s offer, the link below provides the information:-workplaceagreements.nt.gov.au
The main elements of the offer are:
- 10% salary increase over 3 years
- A loss of 5 days stand-down where teachers will be required to be at school (the last 3 days of the Christmas break plus the last 2 days of the mid-year break)
- Increased Professional Isolation Allowance, which will partially be paid for by the abolition of the reimbursement scheme for freight on household goods
- A reduction in Emergency Relief Teacher salary for those who are below the level of T8. T8 and T9 will get slight increases.
- A flexible working arrangements package extended to all employees of the NTPS, including extended leave arrangements, and additional purchased recreational leave for non-school based educators only.
The Government rejected outright the majority of our claims including class sizes, staffing formula and workloads, and failed to come anywhere near our claim for a 15% salary increase over two years.
The AEU-NT Executive is scheduled to meet today, September 17th, via teleconference to consider formal recommendations to members in response to the offer. Those recommendations will be put to members at a series of Report Back meetings scheduled for later this week and early next week.
A memo outlining the times and venues of the Report Back meetings will be sent to all members ASAP.
Keep checking the AEU-NT website for further updates.
